Projectors and burlap

I've been pondering more Projector projects since I still have my mom's Projector.  I did this project literally in about 40 minutes, and that included set up and clean up.  I still haven't hung them up yet.  I need some more pieces to complete the wall art but here's a quick project that turned out beautiful!

All you need is some burlap, a board, a staple gun and some sharpie markers.

Cut the burlap to be about 2 inches larger on each side of the board so you can wrap it.

I started with the centers and stapled the burlap down, folding under the raw edge.
Continue working around the edges pulling the burlap tight and stapling in place.  I had to use my hammer to help the staples lay flush to the board.

For the corners, I cut the burlap diagonally as shown to get rid of some of the bulk so the corner would fold properly and lay flat.

 Here's a close-up of the corner.
Next I set up my projector and board.  I used a step stool to keep the board upright.  I had to add some extra boards underneath my burlap one to make sure the height was right for the image from the projector.
Adjust the location and focus of the image to fit your burlap.
Get out your sharpies and start tracing.

I merged two images I got from The Grapic's Fairy in Photoshop.  I loved the French Chocolate word art plus the clock face.  I plan to use the same image on a side table in the near future.

Here's the image before tracing.

And finished.  I'll definitely post them when I have them hung.

Hobby Lobby Score!

I love a great find, don't you.
This time I really Scored!
I was waiting for the DMV to open
and had some time to kill, so why not wander the isles of Hobby Lobby right?
I walked down the clearance isle and found this beautiful
Huge clock!
I walked past it a few times, falling more and more in love with it.
So I called my hubs and asked if I could spend $5 on a clock.
He goes, "yeah, I guess so.
You know you don't really need to
ask to spend $5."
I know but this was such a great find, I had to share immediately.
So I took it up to the cashier and she was stunned at the price.
"You sure got a great deal on this clock!"  Yes.  Yes I did!

I really did only spend $5
on this 30 inch clock.

Why was it marked down to $5 you ask?
Well, it looked like someone ran over it with a cart or something metal.

Here's the before and after Pics.

My hubs didn't think I could  fix it.  He was pleasantly surprised.

I used a dishcloth and a hammer to pound out the major dents.  I wanted to keep some of the small ones because I like the distressed look.

Next I got out some vaseline and a cotton ball.  I've seen this technique on Pinterest and was dying to try it out.

Using the cotton ball, I rubbed some vaseline on some places randomly around the clock.  Then taped off the face with painters tape and gave it 2 coats of black flat spray paint.  Let the paint dry and using a piece of sand paper, rub off the paint where the vaseline is.
Here's a close up of where the vaseline was.  The origional brown shows through perfectly.  Love it.

A few more shots of my new favorite clock!

Super Yumm Granola!

This summer I went on vacation with a friend and she brought this super yummy granola.  I shared it with my in-laws and they all asked for the recipe.  So here you are girls.

Plus, my oldest boy has asked if he can take it as his lunch to school everyday.

Yes.  It's that good!

{C's} Granola Recipe

In a medium sauce pan combine the following:
1 cup oil, or 2 sticks butter (I used butter)
1/2 cup honey
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
(as you can see I used white sugar and 2 Tbsp molasses, I never buy brown sugar, but that's a personal preference)
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup real maple syrup
(didn't have any so I used regular Log Cabin Pancake syrup)

Heat over medium heat and stir until butter is melted and all ingredients are combined.
Remove from heat and set aside while you assemble the Oat mixture.

You will need 7 cups rolled oats.  I used Honeyville's 6 grain mix.  Just one more way to sneak in some more whole grains.

Combine 7 cups Rolled oats with:
1 cup wheat germ ( I used Bob's)
2 cups coconut
2 cups nuts (mine is a combination of almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds...
whatever strikes your fancy.)
Mix well and add liquid mixture.  Stir to coat evenly.

Preheat oven to 225.
Pour granola on to 2 large baking sheets that have been sprayed with cooking oil, ie. Pam.  Spread evenly and bake for 20 minutes.  Remove pans, stir gently and replace pans in the opposite position in your oven to ensure even baking.  Bake for another 20 minutes.  Turn off oven. Remove and stir gently.  Return to oven and let sit for another 20 minutes.  Remove and let cool.

Stir in your favorite dried fruits.  I have 1 1/2 cups Craisins, and  1 cup white grape raisins in mine.
Again, feel free to adjust to your tastes.  I may try pineapple, papaya, figs, and dates in the future.
This time I ate it with some Greek Style Yogurt.  My boy likes it with milk like cereal.  We also like it just to snack on.

 Mmmm Granola,
a Yummy Combination.
