Let's Ride!

Yep. More Bicycles.
They seem to sell really fast over at Twigs and Twine.

Here's some pics from the store with some of my projects.

I'm happy to oblidge.
It's such a fun image.
Very Vintage.
Very cool.
I have a hard time drawing in all the spoke lines
so this time I left them out.
I did however add them in this project and this one.

Here's the original image I used from Graphics Fairy.
Much more detailed than I can paint on Pallet wood,
but enough to give me the basics for the image.

I'm obviously not great a staging.
Mostly this is just for me so I can remember
what I've done,
but if they help give someone some inspiration
for their own projects, then I'm happy.
These are pretty big so they ended up on the floor for pictures.
I think I seriously need to put together a vingette
somewhere in my house just to show these better.
Maybe next week....

So here's 2 versions of the same idea.
I played with another font for the saying.  It's Lobster.
Enjoy!

This one is very similar to the last batch of bicycles I did.
I just changed up the colors and left out the spokes.

Hopefully some day soon the weather will be nice again
instead of so blasted hot and I can go cycling again.
I miss it.

But I can still enjoy the Ride of Life!

Some Steampunk in the Sky

I guess you could say I'm fascinated with Steampunk.
Honestly I had no idea what it was until a Castle and Phineas and Ferb episode.

I know.  I'm a nerd... and a little naive.

I'm defintely not obsessed, nor do I dress up and go to Steampunk Parties.
But the images really captivate me.

ie. The bicycle here and here I've been painting for the last few weeks.

I want to play with some more steampunk images,
but am a little apprehensive since many of them are very detailed
which doesn't translate well to pallet wood.
But I found this cute airplane over at The Graphics Fairy and loved it.

Simple and fun.

I think it would be perfect for a boys room or a nursery.

This one got a light whitewash, then a light blue wash to imitate the sky.
I off centered the plane just a bit to give a more 'in flight' look.

Up up and away!
Enjoy!

Ride On

The bicycle boards seem to be doing well right now
over at Twigs and Twine.
I just needed to play with the colors and design a bit more.
on the boards before doing the image.
I did a combo of three layers of paint.
Green, Yellow, and White.
Each was drybrushed on in a very random pattern.
Some light sanding and I added a bit of the apple cider vinegar/steel wool stain
to darken the slats up a bit.

I love the vintage bicycle image from Graphics Fairy.
Sometimes simple is best.

Enjoy the Ride

{J} over at Twigs and Twine asked me to do some more masculine
pallet wood signs.

I immediately went for the bicycle.

I found this great image over at The Graphics Fairy.
The original is much more detailed than what I can do with
a paintbrush on pallet wood bards.
But I think the effect is just as good.

Plus I found this fun font over at daFont for free.
It totally fits the bicycle theme in my opinion.

I did another one in the last batch but forgot to take pictures.
{J} didn't get to take a picture either for her facebook page.
It sold before she even got it hung up on the wall.

Love it when that happens!

Plus I loved the colors in the wood. Very textured and fun!

Perfect for that Man-Cave or home gym.

Ride on!
